Metropolitan Tech Company (MTC) has officially launched its newly redesigned corporate website, marking a significant milestone in its evolution from Metropolitan Trading Company to a modern, technology-focused municipal entity serving the City of Johannesburg
The refreshed website reflects MTC’s updated name, brand identity and forward-looking positioning within the metropolitan technology landscape. While the organisation’s mandate and strategic priorities remain unchanged, the new platform better represents its role as the City’s technology backbone, supporting smart, efficient and connected municipal services.
MTC plays a critical role in enabling digital transformation across Johannesburg. It provides and maintains broadband connectivity for municipal sites, manages key ICT infrastructure, supports smart city solutions, oversees data centre services, and drives technology projects that strengthen service delivery. From expanding fibre networks to enhancing cybersecurity and supporting integrated municipal systems, MTC underpins the City’s digital ecosystem.
The new website — now live at https://metrotech.co.za — offers improved navigation, a streamlined design and easier access to information about MTC’s services, projects, governance and strategic initiatives. The enhanced structure promotes transparency while ensuring residents, partners and stakeholders can engage with the organisation more efficiently.
Acting Corporate Strategy Executive Celani Mathenjwa said the new platform signals more than a visual refresh.
